With the holidays coming Palencia Winter Festival is a great start to your Christmas shopping. Come out, enjoy an evening of entertainment, shopping and food, all finished off with the lighting of the Christmas tree.
Our artists will be displaying in the hallways of Village Square, as usual, but we also will be set up outside along the promenade deck. Attending is photographer Amy Myers, charcoal artist Juan Estella II, photographer Doug Mackenzie, acrylic artist Melodye Stimpel and acrylic artist Trish Frederick. Maybe a few others, as we are always looking for Palencia artists who want to display their work.
Amy Myers, photographer, uses her photography to record life’s undefinable moments, so they exist forever. Whether it is a smile of a child, a bird folding its wings, or a puppy smelling grass, she tells their story with her photography.
Juan Estrella, charcoal artist, constantly strives to improve his technique and composition with a goal of photo-realism using charcoal and graphite. He likes the challenge of figuring out tones using pencils, sometimes spending 100 hours just on one piece. Come see his amazing work.
Doug Mackenzie, photographer, images have been by National Geographic, CNN, MSNBC, campaigns for tourism by Canada, Indonesia, Thailand and many more. He has traveled to an estimate of 94 counties and has taken over five millions photographs. Emotions, creativity, imagination and wanderlust are just a few of his tenants for taking an imagine from a picture to an experience.
Melodye Stimpel, acrylic artists, is constantly researching and integrating new methods into her art. Using a variety of mediums, her work reflects her natural curiosity. Her primary focus is on fluid art, pouring acrylics and embellishing the. With tools like her fingers and materials like gold and silver leaf. Her art incorporates elements from the natural world, creating an organic connection between her creativity and natural environment.
Trish Frederick, acrylic artists paints landscapes and seascapes. She likes the unpredictability of nature. Nature has patterns but there is no right or wrong. A tree can have five limbs or fifty. She uses bright, intense colors to bring her imagination to life.
