About Doug: From Snapshots to Spectacle

Doug's passion for photography wasn't born in a classroom, but nurtured through the chaos of a big family. As the eldest of five, he became the custodian of the family camera and 8mm movie camera, determined to capture those precious moments of togetherness. The thrill of anticipation waiting for the film to be developed was often met with the sting of disappointment from technical mishaps. These early experiences fueled a relentless pursuit of perfection, a fire that continues to burn brightly in his artistic approach.

Doug's digital awakening came in 2003, during a transformative trip to Africa. He embraced the possibilities of the digital age, utilizing photography and videography to capture the very essence of life. His artistic vision transcends mere snapshots, aiming to evoke emotions, ignite creativity, spark the imagination, and ignite a sense of wanderlust in the viewer. He aspires to turn each image into an immersive experience.

Doug's talent has garnered international recognition. His work has graced the pages of National Geographic, captured the attention of CNN and MSMC, and fueled various tourism campaigns. He was even chosen as the principal photographer for the prestigious Jakarta International Jazz Festival. His photographic journey has taken him across the globe, with visits to an astounding 94 countries and an estimated 5 million images captured. Doug's story is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the unwavering belief that a single photograph can hold the power to transport us.
