About Laura: From Academia to Oyster Shells

Laura's artistic journey is a vibrant tapestry woven from experience and education. Earning not only two Masters degrees but a PhD in education, art education, and education leadership. Her passion for artistic expression has always burned brightly. Upon retirement, she built a dedicated art studio, reigniting the creative fire that had fueled her throughout her life.

Laura's artistic voice resonates through various mediums, from the calming serenity of seascapes and landscapes to the captivating energy of abstract pieces and the delicate beauty of florals. She has earned the moniker "thick painter" for her signature style, layering colors with gusto to create depth and a sense of movement on the canvas. But Laura isn't confined by traditional surfaces. Her adventurous spirit extends to her choice of substrates, transforming oyster shells, palm fronds, and even a large piece of found plastic into unique artistic platforms.
