When land meets the sea

"Resting Place" an acrylic painting by Trish Frederick captures the serenity of a coastal scene. A large, towering tree gracefully furnishes shade for a sandy beach where a small stream winds its way to the ocean. The small canoe resting near the shoreline gives the painting its name. The boat in the distance helps evokes a sense of distance along with the tree covered mountains.

This was my first successful try at an ocean coastal scene. The stillness of the water helped to create the illusion I was after. A peaceful, calm, inviting painting that offers serene tranquility.

"Coming Home" is the companion piece to "Resting Place." Here turquoise water meets the shore with white crashing waves bringing the scene to life. The figures near the two boats help imply their journeys end as the palm tree hints at an afternoon shadow.

Using bold, vivid colors, I like to explore nature's beauty.
